Our story

The story of Urco begins in 1958. It was expected that Guus Kessler (1925-2020) would succeed his father as one of the top executives at Shell. However, Guus' life took a different turn when he came to faith and chose a life as a missionary in Central America. When a portion of the inheritance became available, he decided to invest his assets to support other missionaries financially with the annual returns. Guus Kessler passed away in 2020 at the age of 94, but his life's work continues through the Urco Foundation.
