Achmed*: “As a Christian with a Muslim background, I was initially afraid to record my voice for this project because I knew it could be dangerous. However, as my faith grew, I decided to make my voice available for my language area. We have since translated several Bible books and recorded them for broadcast on the radio and distribution via SD cards. I also contributed to recording a film about the life of Jesus, produced and sponsored by Campus Crusade for Christ.

I have often experienced people recognizing my voice from the SD cards or the radio, which can be quite thrilling. For example, I met a vendor in the village square who, upon hearing my voice, said, “I’ve been watching the film about the life of Jesus all day, and the voice I hear now is exactly the same as in the film. I’m sure it’s your voice.” Although I initially denied it, he persisted, so I eventually admitted, “Yes, it’s me.” Later, I met a woman who knew an entire passage from Matthew 5 by heart and also recognized my voice. This happens to me more and more often, even when I’m traveling around my country. These experiences confirm for me that my contribution to this Bible translation project is valuable.”
